Preach the Gospel and Bear Witness

Below are the reasons for Christians to spread the gospel and bear witnesses:

1. God’s Love

Christians need to spread the gospel and become witnesses because of God’s love. God is love. Humans will sacrifice their most precious thing and even everything they possess for the person they love. The God whom Christians worship is the same. His love is unconditional, sacrificial and forgiving. Jesus  taught us not only to love the people we love, but also our enemies. Matthew (5:44-45) reads “Love your enemies… so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.”

2. Jesus Christ’s Commandments:

The second reason to spread the gospel and be witnesses is because these are the commands of the Lord. He clearly commanded his disciples to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Matthew (28:19). Since the Lord valued the spreading of the Gospel on earth, becoming a witness himself, and ordering his disciples to fulfill this mission, then this must be a matter of great  importance. If Christians love God, they would obey his commandments to spread his love far and wide so that all corners of the world may bear witnesses for him.

3. Gifts by the Holy Spirit

The third reason comes from the gifts by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is closely connected to the spreading of the gospel. In John (15:26-27) Jesus said   “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. You also are  to testify because you have been with me from the beginning.” Doubtlessly, receiving the Holy Spirit and bearing witnesses for God is an important  connection. The work of the Holy Spirit is to bring glory to God and bear witnesses to God. Therefore when Christians are filled with the Holy Spirit, they will be full of strength and intent to introduce Jesus Christ to others. The mission gifted by the Holy Spirit helps Christians learn from Jesus’ example and become  his witness.

Based on the three reasons above, Christians must spread the gospel and become witnesses because the God we worship is a God who grants faith. Therefore we should learn from his example to spread the gospel and bear witness.
