宣召經句(St Matthew's Day should be on 21 September, but it coincides with Pentecost 15, and either can be celebrated. If Pentecost 15 is celebrated on this day, then St Matthew's Day is transferred to the following day.) Jesus said, ‘You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ (Acts 1:8b)

We thank you, heavenly Father, for the witness of your apostle and evangelist Matthew to the Gospel of your Son our Saviour; and we pray that, after his example, we may with ready wills and hearts obey the calling of our Lord to follow him; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
