According to the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese, a Registered Member is :
A Christian who

  • is at least eighteen(18) years of age;
  • has been baptised and confirmed;is regularly receiving Holy Communion at the Parish concerned; and
  • is making offerings regularly to the Parish concerned.
  • He/she shall be eligible to apply and become a Registered Member of a Parish of one of the Dioceses of the Province.

According to Canon 12 Parish and Vestry, the Constitution and Canon of the Diocese,

  • What qualifications does a congregation fulfill to be qualified for recognition as a Parish?
    To be qualified for recognition as a Parish, a congregation fulfills the following qualifications:
    • there are at least 50 Registered Members;
    • its constitution, which is not contain any provision inconsistent with the Constitution, Canons, By-laws and Regulation of the Province and the Diocese, has been approved by the Standing Committee;
    • it is able to maintain the stipend of a vicar who is in charge of all affairs of the congregation;
    • there is a permanent place of worship.  A permanent place of worship means that in the course of one year the congregation is worshipping at the same premises for not less than six months;
    • it undertakes to accept and abide with all provisions of the Constitution, Canons, By-laws and Regulation of the Province and the Diocese; and
    • there is a vestry constituted in accordance with provisions set out herein below and in the Constitution of the Diocese.
  • Whom is the vestry consist of?
    The vestry is consist of the followings:
    • the vicar of the Parish appointed by the Bishop;
    • the vicar of the Parish appointed by the Bishop;
    • curate or curates of the Parish appointed by the Bishop;
    • clergy of the Province who are serving in the Parish appointed by the Bishop;
    • ordinary members to be elected from Registered Members of the Parish;
    • senior active members to be elected in the manner of Canon 12 set out; and
    • nominated members to be appointed by the vicar in the manner of Canon 12 set out.

  • What are the duties of members of the vestry?
    Members of the vestry have the following duties:
    • attending meetings of the vestry regularly;
    • serving as heads of the departments of the Parish if so elected;
    • attending services and activities of the Parish regularly;
    • assisting in the planning and organization of activities of the Parish;
    • supporting and promoting all activities undertaken by the vestry; and
    • acting with other members of the vestry in executing and implementing the resolutions of the vestry.
